Our measures to minimise the Risk of Contagion by Covid-19
Our outdoor provision is regarded as lower risk and our extensive Risk assessment is helping us to prepare for our children to return to the woods. Based on the government advice, we plan to take the following measures to minimise the Risk of Contagion.
We will be meeting in the woods and children will need to be dropped off/picked up at the base camp, keeping a 2 meter distance at all times with other parents and members of public.
In order to keep everyone safe, we will run smaller groups then usual (6 to 8 children per group) and each child will have a set of their own tools/resources for the day. In the case of siblings, they will be allowed to share equipment.
After each day, all the tools will be disinfected, ready to be used again the next day.
Each child will have to have a pair of safety gloves they bring from their home. These are working gloves to protect their hands when using real tools. Rigger gloves for gardening are good enough.
Each child will need their own clean bottle of water as well as a packed lunch and two snacks for each day.
Adults and children in the group will need to respect social distancing measures at all times. During snacks/lunchtimes children will be divided in even smaller group to allow for social distancing.
When necessary, PPE will be used by adults to minimise a Rick of Contagion. For example, if children need help in achieving a particular task or in the unlikely case of administering First Aid, the adult might have to compromise a 2m distance with the child. I that case, a face mask or a faceshild will have to be worn by an adult.
There will be rigorous hand-cleaning routines, using Alcohol free Foam Hand Sanitiser.
If anyone in the group develops Covid symptoms, they will need to be sent home immediately and will need to be tested. Consequently, the whole group will have to stay home and self-isolate for two weeks. In case the test is negative, the group can return to the woods and normal life.
We also ask you to check your child's temperature every morning, before heading to the woods.
During the period your child is attending our camp, we kindly ask you to minimise contact with anyone outside your household so that we can control the risk of spreading the virus within our community.
